The poem below was written by Barbara Davies in 2004 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Castle Capers, and to share the enjoyment she had had from the Show and from Scouting.

Castle Capers - 30 Years on

In 1974 I was in the first Show:
Yes! I was old enough 30 years ago.
"Where has the time gone?" you can hear me say,
"Is it really that long from then till today?"

Another Show is almost here,
You can bet I'll be there, never fear,
On stage again, and 14 Shows done;
Can you believe, I missed only one?

Cast, costume, music, and backstage crew,
Refreshments, makeup, production team too,
I've made so many friends along the way,
"How lucky am I", I say to this day.

If I'm in trouble or need a friend,
On all these people I can depend
To help me through the rough and the smooth
I can rely on them to comfort or soothe.

Scouting is a world-wide family
It's there for us all, not just you and me.
We all get together every two years
To put on a great Show that can bring you to tears.

Our anniversary Show is waiting for you
So do your very best, make your dreams come true.
I look back at those years, and hope you will stay
For 30 years' time. It's not far away.

Have fun, enjoy yourself, and remember: THE BEST OF TIMES IS NOW.
